If you consider yourself an audiophile, but will still lower yourself to listen to streaming music then you may well be wanting a premium smart speaker with witch to stream your tunes. Bose seems to think there’s a market for such a device and has released their first battery powered voice assistant enabled Bluetooth capable speaker.
The Bose Portable Home Speaker is a 19.15 cm x 11.9 cm 360 degree smart speaker with Google Assistant and Amazon Echo built in, if it’s like other dual devices you will need to configure the device to use one or the other it will not be able to listen for both hot words at the same time. Other features includes a battery back up for portability, IPx4 water resistance, Bluetooth, WiFi and a carrying strap.
The device will charge over the included USB C port however if you want to go all out there is an optional charging stand that will let you leave the device plugged in and on charge at home and ready for a swift disconnection when you need to get mobile with your music.
The Bose Portable Home Speaker will work with with the Bose multi-room audio groups or GoogleCast groups individually, but obviously you can’t mix and match the multi-room audio between the services. The speaker itself will sell for $499.95 AUD and the charging dock is expected to sell for around $39.95 AUD based on the pricing for other charging docks they sell.
While that may be a bit pricey as smart speakers go these are not just smart speakers, Bose has always carried a higher price tag, hopefully the quality of the audio lives up to the cost. The speaker is expected to hit the market in September.
Same here. Will wait for a price drop
I love Bose, but that’s too pricey for me.
