We previewed Alcatel’s 3T 10 tablet at Mobile World Congress earlier this year, and it’s ready for the Australian market, on sale at Telstra for $324 outright or on a range of plans.

The Alcatel 3T 10 is a tablet, but is marketed as an audio station as it comes with a speaker dock in the box, transforming the tablet into a home audio system or a powerful smart home controller.

As the name might imply, it is a 10-inch tablet, and has two built in speakers of its own for use when not using the speaker dock. With a 4,080 mAh battery, the Alcatel 3T 10 can play back high definition video for up to 8 hours.

Inside, you’ll find Android 9 Pie, and Google’s Assistant as well. The other inclusions are fairly standard, pegging the Alcatel 3T 10 as a mid-range tablet; performance unlikely to set the world on fire, but equally, more than sufficient for casual gaming, media consumption and smart home use with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage, expandable by MicroSD.

It’s use as a smart home console is a natural fit, coming with three built-in directional microphones to allow you to ask questions from across the room or, using Google Assistant, to turn things on and off around your home.

The Alcatel 3T 10 is a smart one, featuring dynamic sound to bring movies and video content to life, and facial recognition for faster unlock.

It’s use in the audio station speaker dock is what gets exciting though – this speaker dock supports connection of two devices at once for streaming of audio content from the Alcatel 3T 10 and from your mobile or some other device.

The Alcatel 3T 10 is available now from Telstra, both in store and online.
