JB Hi-Fi have a solid history of brining great deals to market, but a 5G phone at $699 is a very good deal. The Mi Mix 3 5G launched in Australia at $1399 which is a tall ask for a brand with relatively low footprint or market presence in Australia.
With the slowly expanding 5G coverage through both Telstra and Optus, the price drop makes this pretty enticing for users who might want to try out 5G without a huge up-front cost.
We first heard about the phone back in February at Mobile World Congress, noting the price (before the Australia tax) would be nudging AUD$1000 but it would still be a cheap option in terms of 5G connectivity.
It appears that this may be Xiaomi clearing stock as the JB Hi-Fi site notes that there is limited stock, so if you’re trying to get connected to 5G on the cheap you should get in quick.
