The Samsung Galaxy Fold may have gotten off to a rocky start to begin with but once all build and hardware issues were fixed it turns out that it was a decent device — especially for a first generation. At such a high price Samsung were still able to sell quite a few of them.
Not content with that Samsung are hard at work polishing their next foldable with new leaks revealing that it might be similar to the Motorola Razr being released early next year. Overnight an apparently Samsung-made clamshell foldable phone was revealed on Weibo.
The new device shows what looks to be a square device when folded over and when opened a ratio of close to 16:9 — different to the Motorola Razr 21:9 display. There is a punch hole camera for selfies on the top of the phone and what appears to a dual camera for the rear. The rear also has a very small LCD display it seems showing the time and possibly notifications.
The software on the device looks very Samsung, it includes various Samsung apps including Samsung Pay and their browser so while there is very little legitimacy provided for the device it looks to be real.
This is not the first we have heard of a clamshell foldable device from Samsung so it is no surprise to see it leak. It is however a large difference from the first generation foldable from Samsung. This new clamshell is rumoured to be a LOT more affordable than the first Galaxy Fold.
As always, take these leaks with a grain of salt — it could be one of many prototypes for the Galaxy Fold 2 in existence. It does exist though and whether it is Samsung or not, time will tell.
