Realme have officially only existed since 2018 after breaking out from the OPPO umbrella to become a brand on their own underneath the BBK Electronics brand (along with OPPO and OnePlus). Since then their growth has been such that in Q3 of 2019 they were the seventh biggest selling smartphone manufacturer on the planet.
Realme have had this growth through offering quality hardware, well built, and at an extremely affordable price. The are looking to continue that growth this year and are set to announce their upcoming devices in Madrid on February 24.
Originally slated for a MWC timeslot the announcement is expected to announce the international version of the realme X50 Pro 5G, their first flagship 5G phone — realme’s quest is to “make 5G available to all”.
The X50 Pro 5G is set to be a true flagship in every sense of the word with it packing a Snapdragon 865 processor, and thus supporting 5G networks. The display is rumoured to be sporting an AMOLED display with support for a 90Hz refresh rate. The rear camera is also expected to be a quad camera with the main shooter a 64MP lens and a dual selfie camera as well.
The X50 Pro 5G is also expected to arrive with 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of onboard storage to support that Qualcomm chipset and incorporate 65W “Dart Charge” technology. Add in realme’s own UI and you have the recipe for a premium device. Having used OPPO’s ColorOS since their inception realme are set to bring a more stock-like Android experience to their users with realme UI.
At the same announcement realme are set to reaffirm their commitment to IoT devices and providing them to users all around the world for attractive prices. Globally, realme has expanded into 25 markets, including China, India, Southeast Asia, Europe, Russia, Pakistan, Africa and of course Australia.
We are expecting this to land here in Australia given realme’s push into our market but are yet to receive any confirmation or details of its launch. If it does launch here would you be happy to buy the realme X50 Pro 5G?
