Microsoft announce the new Surface Headphones 2 and their first true wireless headphones, the Surface Earbuds

By all accounts Microsoft made some of the best sounding headphones available with their first Surface Headphones so it is with great expectations we look forward to the Surface Headphones 2 and also to see if they can bring that sound to their new true wireless headphones, both officially announced overnight.

Even with the original Surface Headphones offering great sound Microsoft say that the second generation they have been able to create even better sound along with an improved battery life. The new 20 hours battery life arrives with an adjustable noise cancellation that can be adjusted to 13 different levels using a dial on either side of the headphones.

Microsoft have also included a new colour, Matte Black to go with the Light Grey that the OG Surface Headphones arrived with. Software-wise Microsoft have included Swift Pair to quickly pair with your Windows 10 device along with full Microsoft 365 integration which includes dictation in Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, and PowerPoint.

The Surface Headphones 2 will be available in Australia on June 5 for $399.95 but they can be pre-ordered now if you want to be one of the first to get them.

Surface Earbuds

The Surface Earbuds have everyone excited as it is Microsoft’s first pair of true wireless headphones also promise to offer great sound while at the same time great functionality and a comfortable fit.

while they do not offer any noise cancellation they do offer AptX support which brings with it a very low latency making them great for gaming. Battery-wise expect around eight hours on a single charge with an extra two charges in the charging case (24 hours total) which also supports wireless charging.

There is once again support for Swift Pair and full integration with Office 365 and Spotify. The outer “plates” are touchpads and offer gestures to control volume, your digital assistant, phone calls and more. The gestures are customisable within the Surface Audio app.

The Surface Earbuds will be released here in Australia on May 12 and set you back $319.95. You can also pre-order these now if you are interested.

We can’t wait to get our hands on these headphones and see what the fuss is all about. They certainly look the part and after Microsoft’s first effort we are fairly sure they will act the part too.
