Each year OPPO have gone from strength to strength with their smartphones and this year looks set to be another big step forward with the ultra-premium Find X2 Pro already setting the world alight with its near best-in-class camera and display. It has launched overseas a few week back but due to the current pandemic climate plans were pushed back. Fret not Australians, the Find X2 Pro is set to land on our shores in under two weeks time.
The 5G-enabled device will be available for purchase in Australia through “all major retailers” including JB Hi-Fi, Woolworths Mobile, Mobileciti, Catch of The Day, Kogan, OfficeWorks (online) and Bing Lee from June 9 for $1,599. At this stage the only carrier it is available for pre-order is at Optus where you will find it in the Ceramic Black only starting at $44.40 per month on a 36 months plan (thanks to the eagle-eyed readers below for spotting that for us). It will also eventually land at Telstra but is yet to appear on their website.
This year OPPO have included a display that has received many plaudits from pundits around the world for its colour accuracy and depth. The 120Hz, QHD+ 6.7-inch AMOLED display houses a punch hole for the selfie camera. The rear camera setup is a triple camera module with a 48MP Sony main lens, a 48MP ultrawide angled Sony lens and a 13MP periscopic telephoto lens which provides up to 10x hybrid zoom.
The results from the camera are impressive in the short time we had with it at launch and it seems camera aficionados DxOMark thought the same, giving it the third highest rating of all smartphone cameras (behind a Huawei and an Honor phone).
Powered by a Snapdragon 865 chipset, 12Gb of RAM and a whopping 512GB of storage it has all the specs you could need — including a 4,260mAh battery. Add in 65W superVOOC charging and it is seemingly a complete phone.
The OPPO Find X2 Pro will be available in Ceramic Black from Telstra and Optus and both Ceramic Black and Vegan Leather Orange colours from retail channels for $1,599 starting June 9. If you are interested in a 5G phone that looks great and takes great photos it could be one well worth checking out.
We will be reviewing one over the next week or so and hope to have the review ready for launch day. Stay tuned for that.
Looking at the bottom photo in this article, to me, the brand name badge reads as ‘oddo’.
Still concerned about OPPO’s track record with updates. I am not fussed with Android version updates. I just want security update. My wife’s R15 Pro is still stuck on August 2019 security.
This is good news to hear but I am still trying to decide if I go with this or the Xiaomi mi 10 pro or the Poco F2 pro or something else that may not have been announced yet. The 10pro is super expensive at basically the same as an s20 ultra so if I can get something a little cheaper like this it would be good as long as it doesn’t make too many compromises. If my battery wasn’t about dead and the Bluetooth would stay on with my current mi 5s I would might wait longer so hopefully… Read more »
I bought three second-hand Oppo Reno 5G’s for myself and family (paid between $500 and $640 – bad depreciation but good for me). They are great phones and worthy of flagship status in every way except one – software updates. As at May 2020 I am still sitting on the November security patch and Android 9.0. This is extremely poor compared to Samsung, Apple etc. It wouldn’t be so bad except this phone retails for $1499. If Oppo’s sister company, OnePlus, can churn out regular software updates, then why can’t Oppo? The Reno 5G is supposed to get Android 10… Read more »
That is true. Oppo have a terrible history for updates but have slowly been steadily improving – albeit with just security patches.
According to oppo the Australian updates will being rolling out next week for the Reno 5G. See the list here:

What a shame. I just got rid of my R15 Pro after getting tired of waiting. Downgraded to Galaxy A51.
Well that phone brings a solid price with it, but I really like the vegan leather on the back of the phone, looking forward to see a hands on review on this.
Telstra and Optus will be carrying the Black only. Other channels (retailers) will carry black and vegan orange.
Is this dual sim?
OF that I am not sure. It is likely the optus and Telstra variants won’t be but the others will. I’ll find out for you
Thanks if you can find out that would be great as that is a must for me as I run both a Telstra and Kogan sim.
unfortunately all models officially in Australia will be single SIM
You need to see the phone first at your local store.
A family member owns Oppo A52 phone. This is the same UI and OS version as Find X2 Pro. I’ve been a Samsung user for a long time and didn’t find the Oppo UI as easy to use as Samsung OneUI.
However, Oppo is a far better value proposition than Samsung 20 Ultra for a couple of reasons: cheaper, has Snapdragon 865 chipset (instead of substandard Exynos), better camera.
before using it, based on previous experience i’d have to agree with you. The OPPO software has improved in leaps and bounds in recent years and is now what I’d call usable with very little issues on a day to day basis. Some of their tweaks etc are great too– Samsung still don’t have Google’s new gesture navigation which is actually great
In other test than DXO I have seen that the Samsung 108mp sensor is superior in some tests and the other ones are much better I hear at least in auto. But it does cost a lot more.
It looks like a fantastic phone but these prices are getting ridiculous.
This is true Jamie , but isn’t everything these days mate. If you pop onto jbhifis site , and look up the most premium pro max iphone 11 with 512 gb , they do not even list it , (i suspect there are very few buyers for that price ! ) usually as the smaller pro model with 512 gb is a tad cheaper at about $ 2300 and something :I ,

even the top galaxy slab phones with all the bells and whistles and 5g are a tad cheaper (but still worth a kidney or half a liver ...… Read more »
that’s a good way to look at it. It just depends on people’s priorities etc. Sure the prices aren’t for everyone but if you want an ultra-premium device in 2020 that’s what you have to pay…
It looks pretty good , I still wish for a flat screen though ,
Wireless charging and a headphone jack would have been nice too .
Oh well , we cannot have everything can we 😄.
Tempted to try my first oppo .
same re the flat screen, although the OnePlus 8 Pro seems to have great accidental touch rejection…. same display here
The wireless charging is a surprise given that they already have a phone with 30W wireless
The phone is listed on Optus website.
thanks for that
Optus has one with the preorder bonus. Only ceramic version though.
thanks for that
