These days it’s relatively easy to change your Google profile picture on a PC but on mobile it is still not easy. According to tech writer Jane Wong Google are rolling out the ability to set a photo within Google Photos as your profile picture.

As you can see in the images below from Jane that if you search for yourself in Google Photos it gives you the option to select on image as a profile photo.

Although not shown above we suspect that if you just select a photo within Google Photos without searching for yourself it will automatically recognise you in it and allow you to set it as your profile picture. This is pure speculation though but fits with how Google allows you to set wallpapers etc.

We are yet to see this is in our Google Photos app so it is unclear just how or when it is rolling out. For those who rarely use a PC it will be a most welcome change to be able to easily change their Google profile picture.
