Google have added some fun items to their AR in recent years and they have now added some AR Animals specific to Australia helping users bring Aussie animals to wherever they may be.
With AR on Google there are now eight “life-sized” Australian animals that can be inserted into any scenario whether it be teaching, your backyard or out and about just for fun. Included in the fun are a koala, kangaroo, quokka, wombat, platypus, emu, kookaburra and an echidna.
To enable the feature simply search on in your mobile browser (android or iOS) or in the Google and and then tap on the “View in 3D”. The AR interactions show the animals scaled to real life size along with how they move and sound (Android only).
2020 has been a tough year not just for us but also for our Aussie animals with the bushfires wiping out many colonies, most notably of the koalas leading to a large trend in Google searches not just for koala information but also on our other favourite animals such as emus, platypus’, wombats and of course the kangaroos.
While it may seem like a bit of ho hum to many of us, young kids and those not from Australia will undoubtedly be enthralled by these new additions to the Google AR family. Head into the Google app or your browser and check them out.
