We’ve just found out that OPPO’s 2022 flagship Find X5 series launch event will be streamed live via the OPPO YouTube channel on 24th February 2022 at 10pm AEDT.
What do we know about the Find X5 Pro?
We can be pretty sure the Find X5 Pro will feature their new in house MariSilicon X dedicated imaging Neural Processing Unit which claims to “overcome smartphone video’s greatest challenge night-time recording”, using 6nm architecture, real-time RAW processing and up to 20x faster 4K AI performance.
As in previous years there will be a Pro top of the range and likely Neo mid range and Lite more affordable models as well.
In Australia the Find X5 Pro has been confirmed to be powered by the latest-generation, multicore Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor which can handle the most demanding games and applications.
We already know what the back of the Find X5 Pro looks like thanks to video hints from OPPO.
Any hopes for a return to the vibrantly coloured vegan leather back of the X2 series are dashed as OPPO says the new ultra-hard, true ceramic back aims to create a surface texture that reduces fingerprints and follow a perfectly smooth, uniform incline to gently cushion the camera module.
Other specifications are uncertain but there are claims in the tweet below which indicate that the Find X5 Pro will be very similar to the OnePlus 10 Pro which is a bit disappointing as that would signal no big new innovations.
What’s interesting about the rumoured camera sensors is the mention of 50MP IMX766 for the main and wide angle cameras, which is the same sensor fitout used in last years Find X3 Pro.
Clearly OPPO is relying on it’s new MariSilicon X dedicated imaging Neural Processing Unit to extract better quality video and images from the IMX766 sensor than the Find X3 Pro could achieve.
