In July of this year, Nintendo announced plans to buy Dynamo Pictures, a Japanese CG production business, and rebrand it “Nintendo Pictures.” The transaction was finalized on October 3rd, 2022, and Nintendo Pictures’ official website is now live. According to the official website, the new studio will focus on creating “visual content” using Nintendo properties and is entirely owned by Nintendo.

Dynamo Pictures is headquartered in Tokyo and specializes in CG production for film, animation, games, and TV, as well as motion capture work and video distribution. The company has been involved in motion capture for Death Stranding, Monster Hunter: World, Persona 5, and Netflix’s Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045, among others.

Dynamo Pictures has also worked with Nintendo in the past, and the company helped produce the CG cutscenes in Metroid: Other M.
