With the end of 2022 a mere couple of weeks away now, Snapchat, the online social media picture and video sharing platform, has announced a recap and wrap how Snapchat captured you in 2022.
2022 has been a very busy year for Snapchat users who’ve felt Shook, got Tongue Tied, Cried, showed our silly side with Cartoon Kid and Cute Anime our top Lenses of the year.
So what were the top lenses for 2022 in Australia? Well, Snapchat has said that Crying Lens came in as the most popular Lens of the year, with this lens being viewed more than 9.8 billion times worldwide.
In second place was the Shook Lens, with the Tongue Twister lens filter coming in third place.
However, it’s not just the lens but also the top song tracks used in Snap videos. The top songs used in Snaps were:
- “Happy Birthday” by Vitamin A
- “El Haraka De” by Ahmed Helmy
- “Like Me Better” by Lauv
- “Yummy” by Justin Bieber
- “Heat Waves” by Glass Animals
I probably wouldn’t have picked Justin Beiber to be in the top 5 songs, but hey, everyone has a preference, right?
Snap users were also sharing their favourite TV shows and movies with their friends as well, with the most popular movies sparking conversations on Snapchat Stories this year being:
- Hotel Transylvania: Transformania
- Thor: Love and Thunder
- Minions: The Rise of Gru
- Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
- Hocus Pocus 2
And the most popular TV shows are:
- Cobra Kai
- Euphoria
- Love Island
- Stranger Things
- House of the Dragon
Snapchat also stated with travel now picking back up in 2022 after the last couple of years with the pandemic, that the year’s #1 tagged location was the airport behind some famous landmarks around the world, which include Big Ben, Guggenheim Museum, St. Peter’s Basilica, St. Paul’s Cathedral, and The Empire State Building being just as popular locations and snaps shared this year.
Snapchat has noted that starting next week, it will begin rolling out personalised Year End Stories for our community, where qualifying Snapchatters can find their Year End Story made up of their favourite memories by swiping up from the Camera.
