PayPal Here
After announcing they were entering Australia back in April, PayPal Here, has finally landed at retailers in Australia. Officeworks has announced that they will be selling the chip and Pin Bluetooth card reader in stores.

Priced at $139, the chip and PIN card reader is a first for Australian small businesses, who can now buy a mobile payment terminal capable of completing Visa and Mastercard credit card transactions, in a retail store. With Credit Card signatures out, and mandatory PIN for all credit cards transactions in, as of the beginning of August, PayPal Here offers small business owners a fairly neat, compact solution for taking payments, as well as issuing invoices and receipts on the go.

PayPal Here, actually looks to be fairly easy to use :

Andrew Rechtman, Senior Director of SMB, Retail and Strategy at PayPal Australia said

Traditional payments infrastructure once meant that setting up mobile payments facilities resulted in hefty fees, long wait times and cumbersome policies that was unsustainable for many small businesses. Now, anyone from a young entrepreneur to an established business owner, will be able to head into Officeworks, purchase a payments terminal and accept card payments straight away. This represents an exciting shift in the payments industry, providing businesses with access to funds with less hassle and fewer barriers to entry. This new partnership will allow more Australian businesses to securely accept multiple forms of payments, while also helping to meet growing consumer demand to pay with the digital wallet.

For businesses wanting to use PayPal Here, you can find out more information, or apply to be part of the program on the PayPal Here website. If you want to check out the PayPal Card Reader, head over to the Officeworks website.

PayPal business users were offered them for $99 a few weeks ago. Though good to see Officeworks moving with the times.

I saw them at Officeworks 2 days ago. Was pretty curious about it.

Officeworks isn’t the first – Apple has been selling the terminals online and at retail for the past few weeks – http://store.apple.com/au/product/HC064X/A/paypal-here-mobile-chip-and-pin-card-reader

And of course, it’s covered by their 14 day no questions asked return policy.
