You know you’ve done it, at some point everyone does. It’s ok, it’s normal, go ahead, go Google yourself. Apparently, Google feels people aren’t Googling themselves often enough, or perhaps they just want you to be aware of what’s being posted about you online?
Either way following a recent update, when you Google your name, and you’re signed in, not only will you be given a link to your “My Account, you will also be offered the option to “Stay in the loop”.
The link will show up on both the web and mobile searches and will take you to a pre-filled Google Alert.
From there you can choose to customise your alert or set it to notify your nominated email account.
Controlling, or being aware of, what is posted about you, or at least your name, is becoming increasingly important these days, and not just for the nepotistic amongst us. Tools such as this may just make it easier to keep an eye out.
