Tis the season to announce new products, and Garmin is no different today introducing the Garmin Forerunner 35 which is launching this month in Australia.
The Garmin Forerunner 35 is a GPS equipped running watch which also includes an on-device heart rate monitor, that Garmin says does away with the need for a heart rate monitor chest strap. The Forerunner 35 is heading to retailers with a very decent price of $299, with four colour options – black, limelight, frost blue and white.
At the launch, Adam Howarth, General Manager, Garmin Australasia said
It’s easy to take your running to the next level thanks to the Forerunner 35 with Elevate wrist-based heart rate – you just put it on and go. With a host of built-in features including wrist-based heart rate and smart connectivity, the Forerunner 35 is the perfect tool for runners who want to stay fit, stay connected, and share their progress.
The watch can track data like distance, pace and personal records, as well as the usual step counting, calories and intensity minutes through a connection with your smartphone using the Garmin Connect app, available in Google Play. Garmin is aiming the device as standalone though with the GPS able to track your run, ride or any outdoor activity on the watch before syncing back to the app. It’s a smartwatch too, so expect to see notifications from your phone and music controls on your wrist as well.
The watch itself has a 0.93” x 0.93” 128×128 resolution display with a waterproof rating of up to 5 atmospheres – that’s deep. It’s a battery legend as well with up to nine days of battery life in its normal step counting/activity tracking mode, though this comes down to 13 hours when you hit training mode. There’s several sports profiles included in the watch to help you meet your goals including indoor running, walking, cycling and cardio activities.
The Garmin Forerunner 35 is hitting Australia this month, if you’re looking for a new watch and nothing you’ve seen has tickled your sporty fancy as yet, this could be the one for you.
