If you’re in the market for a new drone but you don’t fancy the size of the fuller-framed DJI Phantom or those of its size, then the GoPro Karma might be something you’ve considered. Karma was only announced a short while ago (last month), and with availability scheduled for tomorrow, the time has now come when you can buy one … well almost.
We understand that Karma will go on sale at GoPro.com tomorrow, with a retail price starting at $1,195.95 for the drone without an included camera. This includes everything you need to fly, you just need to supply a compatible GoPro camera (Hero 4 or Hero 5 will do the trick). If you don’t have a compatible GoPro, you can order the Karma with a Hero 5 for $1,649.95, which isn’t a bad deal; it gives you the Hero 5 for about a hundred dollars less than its stand-alone retail price, and of course, you can use it with more things than just your Karma drone.
While you’ll be able to order online, and perhaps through some specialist drone retailers, GoPro haven’t lined up retail partners just yet. We understand the Karma won’t likely be in mainstream retail stores for a couple of months yet. Once we know where it will be, we’ll let you know.
In the meantime, will you be ordering one tomorrow? We know it won’t be for everyone, but we can’t wait to take a look and see what it lets us get away with.
Still not available to order here – still says “Coming Soon”. On the US store, it’s available to order, but won’t ship until mid November.
Probably for the best – gives me time to recover the savings account after what was a crazy expensive week.
Can relate. I’ve asked GoPro what’s going on. The info we had at launch was that the 24th was the go live date in Australia, but it seems that hasn’t quite materialised. Worse, it looks like retail partners won’t actually have the Karma until as late as January 2017, making it far too late for Christmas.
Hoping online ordering comes up in a day or two. Some specialist drone retailers around Sydney are indicating they may have stock as early as today, but as yet, none have returned calls.
Thanks for keeping on their case about it Chris. Look forward to hearing updates as you get them.
Maybe not tomorrow… Given I just threw a stack of money on a Pixel, I might hold off until my wallet recovers first – plus wait until the Ausdroid review.
Same here, very keen on the Karma and its removable gimbal, but the Pixel has burned a hole through my wallet.
