It’s not often we see a big sidestep from manufacturers looking to branch out. Mobvoi, makers of the Ticwatch devices and Earbuds Gesture have done exactly that. The Mobvoi AI recorder is something a bit different and could be very useful in both personal and corporate life.
Where this particular recorder stands out against other digital recorders is the automatic transcription capability from your recordings. This is specific to English and Mandarin at the moment with more languages on the way. While it’s not perfect — 94% accuracy according to Mobvoi — the transcriptions can be made available in various formats through the subscription service that costs US$69.99 per year after the first 12 months.
There are plenty of other great features to make this a useful device including dual-mic noise cancelling and AGC (automatic gain control) that reduces background noise. To transfer your recordings you’ve got access to Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or a hardwired connection. To put into context the speeds of transfer, an hour recording will transfer via Wi-Fi in under one minute.
It carries a battery life of over 40 hours, storage for 500 hours of recording and 200 hours of online cloud storage included for free. It can easily be carried on your belt, lanyard, by hand or mounted to a metal surface for recording making it extremely versatile in daily use options.
The Mobvoi AI Recorder will be available on July 15 via Mobvoi.com and Amazon for USD $99.99
