Just when you thought IFA 2016 Berlin was done and dusted we found some more release info in our inbox. At IFA 2016 Bang & Olufsen launched three new products to the public — a TV with AndroidTV OS and two 360-degree speakers supporting Google Cast.
BeoVision Horizon
The BeoVision Horizon TV is a 4K UltraHD LED TV that can be used in numerous configurations. Available with several stands and supports, including an easel stand for portability, it comes in both a 48inch and a 40inch version. The floor stand allows 360 degree rotation of the TV while the 9 degree tilt of the easel stand is ideal for low furniture or even placing on the floor.
The display itself automatically adjusts the image to the content on the screen to fine tune the display to the content. For those who prefer to manually set the picture there is that ability too.
The most exciting thing about these TVs is the OS powering them, Android TV. With full Google Play access as well as the usual apps for gaming, entertainment and news the experience promises to be a rich one. As with Android TV the inbuilt Google Cast technology allows the user to share media straight from their phone or tablet to the TV with a simple press of the cast button.
BeoSound 1 and Beosound 2
The two BeoSound speakers are a pair of wireless speakers that deliver 360 degree sound through Bluetooth or Wifi connection. Using this Wifi connection Google Cast is supported allowing you to stream the music directly from the cloud rather than through your phone. This can be performed using the app on your phone or through the BeoMusic app by Bang & Olufsen. This is available both on iTunes and from Google Play.
Both speakers can be used in a multispeaker configuration which can also include the BeoVision Horizon TV. With 16 hours of battery life the speakers can be used outside or portably wherever you want, although the BeoSound 2 is over 40cm high so it isn’t the most portable of speakers. With a very futuristic design these speakers look as premium as we are promised they are.
Being Bang & Olufsen they will be high end, high quality products so do not expect them to be cheap. The BeoSound 1 will be priced at $1,950AUD and the BeoSound 2 at $2,475AUD, both available exclusively at Bang & Olufsen stores from mid September 2016. The BeoVision Hoizon pricing will start at $5,950AUD exclusively at Bang & Olufsen stores from late September 2016.
