Android Wear devices have so far been limited to mainstream manufacturers like Asus, Sony, Samsung, Huawei, Motorola and LG, but after over a year on the market, it seems the floodgates may be about to open with Chinese manufacturer Bluboo announcing their plans to release a ‘sporty’ Android Wear watch.
There’s not much information about the watch, in fact the announcement seems more a way to drum up press for their upcoming Bluboo Xtouch smartphone. What information Bluboo do provide is that the watch – called the ‘Xwatch’ – will come with the ‘sports staple’ a heartrate sensor as well as GPS, as well as contain an altimiter and barometer, making for quite an accurate location.
Bluboo are calling this the first ‘real’ sportswatch and have called out the Moto 360 Gen 2 sports watch as having no real sports features, forgetting that the Moto 360 Gen 2 Sports will also contain GPS.
With no real details on the watch launch date or a price, this could very well remain vapourware, but at least the renders are pretty. We’ll keep an eye on both the phone and watch and let you know if any pricing or availability information surfaces for either.
