Nixon Mission Smart Watch
Watchmaker Nixon has announced a new Android Wear watch, which will utilise Qualcomm’s specially designed smartwatch SoC platform, the Snapdragon 2100.

The watch, which is called the Mission, will feature a stainless steel bezel with a silicon watch strap, but will be customisable with an array of 20 bands and 15 bezel types, including Cerakote, stainless steel, gunmetal, gold and more, to choose from.

Nixon is very much aiming the watch at sports enthusiasts, with a 10-ATM (10 atmosphere) rating, which will let the watch dive to a depth of 100 metres, the lowest depth of any smartwatch released to date. As well as prepping the hardware for avid sports enthusiasts, Nixon will also pre-load the mission with apps – Surfline, Snocountry, and Trace – for both surfers and snowboarders which will deliver up-to-date information on conditions around the world.

The Mission will utilise the Snapdragon 2100, but other hardware features haven’t yet been announced and Mashable is saying that the Mission will come with an almost standard for Android Wear devices 512MB of RAM, and 4GB of internal storage with an array of sensors including a GPS, thermometer, altimeter, barometer, e-compass, gyrometer, accelerometer and humidity sensors. The Mission will use a 1.39″ 400×400 resolution AMOLED display covered by Corning Gorilla Glass to protect it while you’re extreme sporting.

The Mission is also supposed to contain an ambient light sensor, but notably does not have the much maligned ‘flat tyre’ that other Android Wear watches with this feature have had in the past.

Battery Life should be around a day as has been the norm with most Android Wear watches, and will as with most Android Wear watches have a dock for charging.

Pricing hasn’t been announced as yet either, though speculation is that the watch will cost around USD$400 with a release looking likely for later this year. Nixon hasn’t advised where the watch will be available but we have reached out to find out if they will be making the watch available in Australia.

This article was updated with further specs and rumoured pricing.
