The new wave of Android Wear 2.0 watches have begun arriving, with Fossil Australia advising the gen 3 Fossil Q Explorist and Q Venture are now available to order in Australia.
The watches went up for pre-order in the US last month, and it seems the Australian site followed along soon after. Pricing for the Q Explorist starts at $399 in Australia with a stainless steel body, while the Q Venture starts at $429 for a Rose Gold tone stainless steel model. If you don’t like those configurations though, there are other options if you want to pay more – though not as many options as they have in the US.
The Fossil Q Venture is the smaller of the two watches with a 42mm case that fits 18mm straps and is 11.5mm thin. The Q Explorist jumps to 44m in diameter and is 12.6mm thick with support for interchangeable 22mm bands.
In terms of specs, we’re still not 100% sure on everything, but they both have a fully round display and are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 SoC with 512MB of RAM and have 4GB of storage. They’re also IP67 rated, so you should be fine showering or swimming while wearing the watches. They also include Bluetooth 4.1 Low Energy, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and offer ‘all day battery life’.
In terms of fitness, these aren’t quite what you want with no GPS or heart-rate monitoring. There’s also no NFC for Android Pay either, but they do have Android Wear 2.0.
If you’ve been waiting to get a Fossil Q Venture or Q Explorist then head over to the Australian Fossil store and check out their range.
I bought mine from David Jones on Fathers Day. Perfect timing as they had 20% off all Fossil watches. I’m loving it so far. The screen is really nice and they have some great watch faces included.
Fossil shops in the big shopping centres stock their watches if you want to have a look at one before buying. The Fossil shop at Doncaster Shoppingtown has the watches in the window.
