OK, Wear OS is definitely improving with the Wear 3100, 1GB of RAM and larger batteries along with useful power saving tweaks to the software Wear OS is close to being completely consumer ready.
However, if you’re a tech enthusiast and a fashionista, then perhaps your stylish early adopting traits may be interested in the Montblanc Summit 2 which has finally reached our shores.
This is the second Wear OS device from the Germany-based fashion house and it’s both stylish and a solid contender for best Wear OS device. Inside there’s a Snapdragon Wear 3100 paired with 1GB of RAM, 8 GB of storage, NFC for Google Pay and a 340 mAh battery.
Glorious.
It features a 1.2-inch AMOLED 390 x 390 display, 3 button UI with Digital Crown, Magnetic Charging, Heart Rate monitor, Microphone and GPS. Case wise you’re looking at a 42mm case with a 22mm replaceable band.
The watch comes in Black, Stainless Steel and Titanium finishes with either Leather, Metal or Sports Silicon bands. The good news, it’s already available in Australia. Now this is a German high fashion brand, and it’s priced accordingly: the Summit 2 starts at $1580 and goes up to $1950.
Ouch.
The Australian availability comes as we see the Summit 2 Plus variant released internationally with support for LTE via an eSIM. We’re unsure if the LTE variant will make it’s way over to Australia.
Historically, at least, LTE watches that aren’t Apple watches don’t tend to sell too well here, so it seems doubtful.
