OnePlus started small and have now grown to a point where they’re competing at the top level in the smartphone market. So it stands to reason, that they would continue to expand this product range into wearables. Recently the OnePlus band and overnight alongside the OnePlus 9 devices, the OnePlus Watch.
It is noted, that the OnePlus Watch is the first global wearable device however, we do not yet have any information on availability within Australia.
OnePlus have done their homework on market needs for smartwatches, with the watch not being focussed on either fitness or daily life: It’s a digital life accessory that can manage the rigours of life. The OnePlus Watch is designed by the same team as their phones, so the design is consistent:
The round design emulates the look of a traditional watch, with a smooth arc on the side of the case that is hand-polished with more than 20 treatments for a refined finish. The 46 mm case is crafted from quality stainless steel, with 2.5D curved glass on the face and a subtle yet radiant glossy CD pattern on the display bezel for an added touch of class.
As is fair to expect with a current generation smartwatch, the feature set is extensive:
- Notificaiton to your device, with controls over what notifications you see
- Call management options
- Music Playback controls
- Onboard storage and connectivity to your headphones for music while exercsicing
- 5 ATM + IP68 water and dust resistance
- Over 110 options to track workouts with built-in GPS for accuracy
One area where a lot of smartwatches and wearables struggle is battery life. OnePlus have delivered a device that can get a full day of wear by just dropping it on the charger for 5 minutes or a week’s worth of “normal” (ie. step tracking and a limited amount of notifications only, no GPS/exercise tracking) wear in 20 minutes of charging. If your watch is fully charged, it can potentially last as long as 2 weeks of normal use.
The OnePlus Watch in Midnight Black will be available for purchase on OnePlus.com beginning April 14 for $159 USD.

There are plenty of ways to import them if you want to get your hands on one, it’s not like you can’t get it – you just have to make the effort.
