The original launch in Australia saw Google partner with Harvey Norman and JB Hifi to start selling their Chromebooks at retail, but if you would like to get a look at a Chromebook and don’t have a Harvey Norman or JB Hifi nearby then you’re out of luck, until now. Both Domayne and Joyce Mayne have now started stocking the complete range of Chromebooks currently available in Australia.
Domayne is offering the Acer C7, Samsung Series 3 and the HP Pavillion 14 Chromebooks in stores and for two of the models, online. While stores are advising that they have the C7 in-stock, it does not appear to have made it onto the Domayne website. Pricing for the units is similar, the C7 will cost $299, Samsung Series 3 is $345 and the HP Pavillion 14 is $398.
Joyce Mayne has also elected to keep the Acer C7 off their website, but the Samsung Series 3 and HP Pavillion 14 are both appearing on their website with the Samsung Series 3 priced at $344 and the HP Pavillion 14 at $398.
Given that Harvey Norman owns both of these retailers it is no surprise that they are stocking Chromebooks in their stores. It does give a slightly wider distribution chain for Google to get the devices out there and into customers hands. We have approached Google for clarification on if there will be any more retailers added to the list of authorised Chromebook dealers in the future.
