Acer has kicked off CES early announcing a new, larger screen model in their Chromebook line, announcing the Acer Chromebook 15 – a Chromebook with the largest available screen yet. They’ve also announced that their Nvidia Tegra K1 powered Chromebook 13 line will be expanding with touch-screen models.
The Acer Chromebook 15 will be available in low, and high-end configurations, with various options coming to selected markets. The Chromebook 15 will come with a 15.6″ display, in two resolutions: FullHD (1920×1080) and 1366×768. The Chromebook will be powered by either Intel’s Broadwell-based Celeron processor or a 5th generation Intel Core i3 processor.
Memory too will be available at different levels, with 2GB or 4GB of RAM available, as well as either 16GB or 32GB of Solid State storage, but you can also expand storage using the SD Card Reader or by attaching USB drives to the USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 ports included.. The Chromebook 15 will also have a built-in webcam, as well as the usual wireless connectivity options such as 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0. The Chromebook 15 will also come with a HDMI port.
The Chromebook 15 will have a decent footprint thanks to the large screen, with dimensions of 393x256x24.2mm @ 2.2KG. The Chromebook 15 will be available in the US for $249.
Just as the Acer C720 Chromebook saw an eventual update to a touch-screen, the Chromebook 13 will also be receiving a touchscreen update as well. The touchscreen versions of the Chromebook 13 will become available in Europe this month, beginning at €329.
