Sony’s hotly anticipated rollout of Marshmallow to their Xperia range of devices will get underway next month, starting with a limited range of devices. The Sony Xperia UK Twitter account has tweeted a date and list of devices in line to receive the update.
The information, though from an official Sony source should probably be taken with a grain of salt but is very likely an indicator of their current timetable of the rollout. First in line is obviously their latest series of phones, the Xperia Z5 range which is comprised of the Xperia Z5, Z5 Compact and Z5 Premium, with the Xperia Z4 Tablet and Z3+ also receiving a taste of Marshmallow on the 7th of March.

Sony’s Marshmallow update will hit unlocked devices that were sold outright first, with carrier branded models obviously having to wait out the carrier testing process before their Marshmallow treat is served. Of the listed devices, only the Xperia Z4 Tablet is mentioned in the latest software update posts from Optus, Telstra and Vodafone, so it could be a while away yet for Xperia Z5 owners.
We’ll be watching the respective update process for the carriers, but if you purchased your Xperia Z5 or Xperia Z4 Tablet outright, keep your eye out and let us know when you see the update.
Starting to become a joke, no doubt Telstra etc will hold it up longer once it is released too.
Really hope we won’t have to wait too long for Z3 series of devices to be updated to Marshmallow. They were the devices used in the feedback testing after all.
So that didn’t really answer the question for the Z3 in the Twitter post. 😛
Starting to doubt leaving the Nexus series.
Because the update is for the limited edition Z3+ which never arrived in Australia.
