The Nougat update for Nexus devices hasn’t exactly gone smoothly with many Nexus owners still waiting on the update. Chief among those waiting are owners of the Nexus 6 and the LTE version of the Nexus 9, but you can relax because Google says the update is still coming.
It’s been 3 weeks since Google announced the release version of Nougat was available and though we’ve seen OTA’s and Factory Images for the Nexus 5X, 6P, Nexus 9 (Wi-Fi), Nexus Player and even the Pixel C, there’s still no sign of anything for the Nexus 6 or Nexus 9 LTE. Android Police have reached out to Google to ask about what the hold up is, and though a reason for the hold up, nor an exact date has been given, Google has assured them it will be coming ‘in a few weeks’.
The update speed is frustrating for users, but as this is the last platform update that will be made available for the Nexus 6, you pretty much want it done right. The same is also true for the Nexus 9 which hasn’t been the best performing tablet so far. A little longer wait could make all the difference to make sure the experience is just right.
I’ve been using nougat on my Nexus 9 lte for about a week now thanks to the beta trick. Just sign up for the beta and you get the official ota to nougat and just opt out of the beta program when done. Performance is pretty good just wish I could get the same battery life as my old Nexus 7 2013
I got an update overnight to prepare my phone for the N update.
It had me excited for 2sec.
