Good news Optus Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge owners, your Nougat (Android 7.0) update is currently in testing with release expected next month.
Samsung began the rollout of Nougat to the S6/S6 Edge globally in March so this isn’t exactly a new update. Optus is in fact quite late on this with the update arriving several months after Vodafone and Telstra began rolling out Nougat to the S6/S6 Edge in May.
The update is from Android 6.0.1 to Android 7.0 and will include updated security patches. Optus hasn’t listed which month update will be included but we’re hoping for at least August, if not September given the proposed ‘early September’ launch date.
The update is between 1.2GB-1.35GB in size based on previous updates so best off being attached to a Wi-Fi network for that one, though the updates are usually not counted towards your data cap – but better safe than sorry.
Optus has also listed they will be including ‘Wi-Fi Calling’ in the update, so owners will soon be able to use that neat feature.
If you’ve been waiting for the update, your wait is nearly over. Let us know when you get your update.
