Managing one’s business schedule is what calendar tools do best, and so it’s little surprise that some of the first add-ons for Google Calendar come from Cisco, Citrix and others which provide online conferencing tools.

The new add-ons allow users to create, view and join video conferences hosted on these third-party platforms directly from Google Calendar, without needing extra software or downloads.

On the web, the interface will remain consistent with the already-present video conferencing functions. On Android, Google Calendar events will feature a dropdown for the third party app, which users can expand. Users can click the link to join on the web or mobile, and other access information – e.g. conference codes – are listed below.

At launch, four partners have Google Calendar add-ons available in the G Suite Marketplace:

  • Cisco (Webex integration)
  • Citrix (GoToMeeting integration)
  • Dialpad (UberConference integration)
  • Vonage (Vonage integration)

As someone that uses Cisco Webex more than I’d like to, this kind of integration will be rather welcome, and I’ll be looking at how I can use this for my needs. Will you?
