After our last story on Telltale Games in September, things have progressed and the game company is now gone for good. News broke in the US this week confirming that Telltale Games has entered into liquidation and will basically cease to exist come end of November.
The process essentially involves a sell-off of all the company’s assets, likely including game titles, intellectual property and the like, with the proceeds used to pay off creditors. Indications are the process won’t take very long.
Telltale’s CEO Pete Hawley has also deleted his Twitter account and his LinkedIn profile indicates he ceased in this role last month.
In September, indications were the company would continue operations to complete The Walking Dead: Season Four. It seems the gaming franchise has now been sold off and another studio will take the work forward.
It’s the end of the story for Telltale games, but a cautionary tale for mobile game developers; the industry moves quickly, and those that fail to innovate or keep up will quickly fall by the wayside.
