Google promises that they are hard at work trying to get rid of passwords as our primary form of account protection, and until they succeed we’re stuck with them. To alleviate the pain of managing passwords in this user-beware world, Google has refreshed its Password Manager and introduced the new Password Checkup feature.
The Password Manager is hopefully something you’re all familiar with, but if not, it now tracks, secures and can even recommend unique passwords to anything you need, and Google’s offering works across Chrome and Android seamlessly. The new Password Checkup is a new feature that analyses all of your passwords for potential security risks.
The Checkup checks your password vault for compromised passwords, leveraging Google’s massive database of known password breaches, reviews all of your passwords for duplicates and checks the strength of your passwords to ensure they are long and strong.
I have to admit I was shocked when I saw my score card result, luckily it turns out I didn’t update my Google Password manager when I used Last pass to update all of my passwords, I wish there was an easy way to get them in sync!
