In gaming circles Twitch is a pretty big deal; it’s a way for gamers to share their adventures, tips, tricks and conquests with other like minded gamers. You can follow individual streamers and get notified by email when they go live, but this doesn’t always hit this mark and its easy to miss out on your favourite streamers session. But the update to version 4.4.1 which is now live in the Play Store fixes that.
To get push notifications you simply need to log into the mobile app on your device, head to settings and enable push notifications. You will automatically receive notifications when streamers you follow go live, when you receive messages or (if you stream on Twitch) you receive a new follower. This functionality has been available on iOS for some time now and as a gamer I have to say its nice to finally see it appear on Android.
If you watch live streams on Twitch, how will this additional functionality change your watching habits?
Makes pretty much no difference, since Twitch remains pretty much unwatchable in Australia. I’d like to watch, but unfortunately, it’s consistently a horrible buffering, stuttering, low-quality slide-show.
