While the rollout of Ice Cream Sandwich continues for 2011 model Xperia devices it appears that that is where the journey will end for those phones, with Sony announcing via the Sony Mobile Blog the list of phones scheduled to receive an upgrade to Jelly Bean. The full list of devices that will receive the update is here :
The blog advises that the Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V which are either shipping out globally now or about to will begin to receive the Jelly Bean update as of Q1 2013 whilst the rest will see the update coming some time in the future which will be confirmed at a later date on the Sony Mobile Blog.
Whilst the 2011 Xperia models will not receive Jelly Bean due to not being able to guarantee owners of the devices that the user experience would not be affected they have commited to providing firmware maintenance releases.
Bear in mind that any and all updates to firmware are dependent on carrier testing and approval in each region so basically we have to wait and see when each update comes on a case by case basis. I guess this news just really makes me long for that Xperia Nexus even more.
