Though the LG G5 isn’t yet on sale in Australia, it should be soon. In fact, there’s a local launch event being held this week which should give us a fair bit more information about what’s happening locally with the much anticipated handset from LG.
While the choice of nomenclature is a little odd — and very Korean — there’s little doubt that LG’s Friends are novel. Whether they’ll be big sellers or not remains to be seen, but we think the idea is kind of cool. If you want to learn more about the G5 Friends, you can check out LG’s new microsite for the accessory range, dubbed simply LGFriends.com.
Of course, you can’t order these in Australia just yet, but we expect that when the LG G5 launches locally, this accessory store may become available to Australian customers as well. In the meantime, you can enjoy the curious advertising, and learn a bit more about the LG Friends range in the process. At this stage, it’s just LG’s first-party products advertised, but LG are hoping that as others release compatible LG Friends products, they’ll be listed on here as well.
While reviewers internationally have had varying opinions on the LG G5 and the utility of the Friends concept, we look forward with bated breath to seeing the local launch so we can spend some more time with the phone and accessories and form our own opinions. If nothing else, LG has to be congratulated for its innovative approach, whether it proves ultimately successful or not.
We’ll bring you more news about the LG G5 and its Friends after the local launch this week. Are there any questions you’d like us to put to LG?
Why do manufacturers announce something and then provide no real details on it for several months.
LG and HTC have had product launches but no details provided on release dates, prices etc. WHY?
At least Samsung (and dare I say Apple) come to the launch and give these details very soon after.
LG you are running out of hype when it takes 2-3 months to get the product to market. I was excited by the G5 when it was announced but now I’m not so sure.
Why do these things seem to take so long?
