It looks like some of the details of Huawei’s incoming high-end Android phone, the Mate 9, have surfaced thanks to the Chinese social site Weibo. So what do we know? Not a lot actually, the incoming flagship will come in 3 storage variants and offer six different colours options, model dependent, and looks do be sporting dual f/2.0 Leica lenses.
As shown above, the storage options are 256GB paired with 6GB of RAM, 128GB paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB paired with 4GB of RAM. It’s fantastic to see OEMs pushing the upper limits of storage and abandoning the 16GB and now 32GB models. With international data costs still inconsistent, and the increasing prevalence of high-quality photos and videos our mobile devices need all the storage the can get.
Colour choices will be increasing limited the smaller the storage capacity gets. The options are:
- All models
- White
- Gold
- Gun Metal
- 128GB and 256GB models
- Bronze
- Pink
- 256GB model only
- Black
Turning our focus to the inside we’ve not heard anything different from the original leak, we’re still expecting a 5.9″ 1080P screen, new Kirin Octa-Core processor, MicroSD slot, USB C and the standard array of connectivity.
The dual lens is definitely becoming an increasing trend, it will be interesting to see what tact Huawei takes with their implementation.
The pricing as converted from the given Yuan Renminbi price puts the device at about $623 for the 64Gb model up to $915 for the 256GB. That’s before any local taxes and import costs. If you were hoping for a black model I suggest you start saving.
The Mate 9 is expected to launch in mid-November, so we’re sure this won’t be the last leak we see of this Chinese power house.
