It seems like the rumours of folding smartphones, a new take on the old school “flip” phones, have been around forever but renders have emerged from Galaxy Club in the Netherlands suggesting that they may be more than just rumour.

The images show a potential leap forward for the smartphone industry with a display that is curved in similar proportions to the the Note Edge and what we’re expecting from the Mate 9, hinged in the middle (just me or does that look a bit like the Surface Book?) and seemingly having the instantly recognisable Samsung buttons on the bottom of the display. From the renders it appears as though not only will the display be foldable but the full height of the display will be touch capable.

More information is likely to become public – deliberately or not – as we approach the expected launch of the foldable Galaxy X device at Mobile World Congress next February.

What do you like and dislike about the look of the folding smartphone?

Folded over it looks like a book of matches… (sorry)

I’d totally be into it as long as it didn’t crush easily.
