High end gaming accessories maker Razer is working on a high-end smartphone aimed at gamers, says a new report from Bloomberg.

The report says that the Hong Kong based company is working on a ‘mobile device tailored for its consumer base of hardcore gamers’ according to ‘people familiar with the matter’. The likely team behind the project is the Nextbit team, makers of the cloud-based Robin smartphone which Razer purchased earlier this year.

The information has come out at an opportune time for Razer as the company is set to launch an Initial Public Offering (IPO), seeking a valuation of between $3 billion to $5 billion. Apparently the company is looking to be listed on the market around October.

What features the phone will have, and what a phone that’s aimed at hardcore gamers should include isn’t clear. The Nextbit Robins key feature of syncing apps, as well as multimedia including photos and video to the cloud to free up space automatically was a very innovative feature which could possibly make a return, but we’ll have to wait and see.
