US markets plus the Chinese get the Snapdragon SoC
Yea the Chinese generally get a special unlocked Snapdragon variant with more RAM. In the case of the S8 anyway.
Their S9 is the same as ours RAM wise. They get a Snapdragon variant due to CDMA Networks (China Telecom) in the country – same as the US.
Yea, reason I say special, is because the bootloader was unlocked on their S8, and they could install TRWP etc..S9 may well be the same. Haven’t read much about it yet. Only just got my S9+ yesterday.
Glad Samsung is sticking with including a case in the box.
The clear hard case that came in the box with my Note 8 is still my favourite. Even after trying multiple other cases, I keep going back to the Samsung one.
Well, that’s a nice gesture.. Does the regular S9 get the clear case also? My wife just pre-ordered and she is frantically searching to get a case but this will put her mind at ease..
My strong suspicion would be yes, but we can’t 100% confirm – the S9 that Jason is using is neither an Australian version, nor is it a retail version. It didn’t have the case in the box, but it was given to us as a pre release handset and we were asked not to rely upon it as indicative of what would be in the final retail packaging. I’ll ask Samsung Aus today and confirm for you.

Confirmed the Australian S9 retail box includes the clear TPU case.
