Sydney Trains Station - Strathfield

In a follow up to our previous post about Telstra undertaking scoping and investigative works for mobile reception and WiFi availability on the Central Coast line, Telstra have today reached out to inform that works to improve these vital services have begun.

The investigation and scoping works to improve mobile reception along one of the busiest intercity lines from Sydney to Newcastle Interchange in the suburb of Wickham was undertaken under a contract the company won with the NSW and Australian Governments late last year. Telstra is contributing more than $13 million to the venture as part of this joint initiative, which will see new mobile infrastructure built between Hornsby and Wyong – around 68 kilometres of train track – as well as deliver Wi-Fi at train stations along the rail corridor.

Telstra have said that construction on the improved mobile reception and Wi-Fi at stations has commenced and will be delivered progressively over the coming months according to Sriharan (Sri) Amirthalingam, Commercial Engineering Executive at Telstra.

If your a frequent or infrequent commuter on this line like myself, any improvement to mobile reception is very much a welcomed relief.
