It’s the start of a brand new month, and that means the race is on to release monthly security updates. We say that somewhat tongue in cheek, as there’s no race – Google wins each month.
So far, downloads for both full factory images and sideloadable OTAs are up and available on Google’s Android updates site. The over-the-air update patches haven’t been released just yet – according to the office Pixel 3a – but they’re usually a little further behind as it takes time to filter through the various systems.
The fixes this month aren’t all that many, but here they are:
In addition to the Pixel-specific patches, which include fixes for a Netflix-related freeze and a camera crash while recording video on the Pixel 3 series, improvements to the Assistant’s hotword detection on the Pixel 2 and Pixel 3 series are also included.
There isn’t any fix mentioned for the shutdown issue some users experienced on the Pixel 3a and 3a XL. The general security bulletin also indicates there are plenty of “high” and “critical” severity patches to Android in general in this month’s updates, though, so it’s probably worth downloading and installing when prompted.
