We’ve seen a lot of information and — in hindsight — some very accurate renders of the Asus ROG Phone 3. It’s now official and the information that has been spreading around the Internet has been pretty accurate. Let’s take a closer look at the key points.

The phone comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus 5G Mobile which is backed up by an Adreno 650 GPU. This gives a very positive experience now, as well as future-proofing your connectivity. The screen is a 6.59-inch display that runs at high resolution (2340 x 1080) and an outstanding 144Hz refresh. The screen also supports 25ms touch response which is very quick, making gaming extremely responsive and a pleasurable.

The audio upgrades are worth noting also:

ROG Phone 3 also receives a significant upgrade to its audio performance, tuned in collaboration with audio specialist Dirac. There’s now a dedicated Game Mode to further enhance in-game sound effects for immersive gameplay.

The powerful dual front-facing speakers positioned at the top and bottom of the
phone are now more capable of delivering richer and detailed sound, giving perfect stereo imaging in
landscape mode.

It’s fair to say that gaming can be a significant drain on the battery, but the 6000mAh battery is up to the task – even for the heaviest of users – to meet the rigours of daily life. The suite of connectivity is thorough, sporting Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC and all Australian bands for mobile connectivity up to 5G. The camera is a large step forward from last years model with a triple camera array on the rear of the device including a 64 MP Main camera Sony IMX686 + 13 MP 125° ultrawide-angle lens and a 5 MP Macro lens.

Be wary though if you’re looking at buying this phone, it’s a hefty device. The phone measures in at 171 x 78 x 9.85mm in size and a fairly bulky 240 grams.

The gaming experience is really good straight out of the box, but if you’ve got need to grab some optional extras then that becomes a great experience.
