HMD Global, the brand behind Nokia branded devices has announced two new devices, the Nokia 225 4G and the Nokia 3.4, both available from this month through various retailers just in time for the Christmas period.
Nokia 225 4G
The Nokia 225 4G is a feature phone that comes with dual-SIM connectivity and comes with its own operating system called RTOS (Series 30+). While yes this is technically a feature phone, given most Australian telco’s are currently planning or are looking to phase out 3G within the next couple of years, it is still worth taking a look for those who do not wish or prefer not to have a smartphone.
The Nokia 225 4G design is a sleek, modern glossy hard-coated, high-end finish plastic which is very much the cornerstone of the Nokia feature phone family and also comes with a premium performance keymat and dedicated function keys that make typing and navigating feel more precise.
HMD Global states that the Nokia 225 4G comes with a long-lasting battery as well as a web and Facebook browser. It also comes with the legendary Snake game pre-loaded, plus a range of popular try-and-buy games including Crossy Road and Racing Attack.
The full list of specs include:
- 2.4-inch QVGA display
- Unisoc T117 processor chipset
- 128MB RAM
- 64MB internal which comes with 16GB MicroSD card included, but can be expanded to 32GB
- 0.3MP VGA rear camera
- Bluetooth® 5.0
- Micro USB (USB 2.0) charging port/cable
- 3.5mm headphone Jack
- 1150mAh removable battery
The one good thing here is the inclusion of a 16GB MicroSD card for Australian consumers which is included in the box. The Nokia 225 4G also supports Voice of LTE (VoLTE) for crystal clear calls
Juho Sarvikas, the Chief Product Officer and Vice President of North America for HMD Global has said that:
“By bringing 4G to the Nokia 225 4G without compromising the accessible price point, we take another step towards our mission of providing low-cost access to global connectivity to those who need it the most – the billions of people who remain unconnected. With that in mind, we are building further on a winning formula that offers all the essentials with high levels of durability and reliability at an incredible value. The new phone delivers a familiar yet modern and ergonomic design whilst serving the diverse needs of Australians by offering choice”
The Nokia 225 4G is available in the Black colour from JB Hi-Fi now for $63.20, further other retailers such as Harvey Norman, Big W, The Good Guys and Officeworks in the coming weeks along with the additional colours available such as Classic Blue and Metallic Sand for $79.
