Mobile plans can be a complicated mess, and let’s face it, our lives could all be less complicated. felix mobile is all about making it less complicated, and to that end, they offer precisely one mobile plan – it’s $35 a month, has unlimited data and calls within Australia, and offers a carbon neutral good feeling – the telco brand is powered by 100% carbon neutral electricity, and they plant a tree each month for each customer. Cool.

felix’s offer started out at unlimited data at 5mbps which isn’t too bad, but isn’t exactly lightning quick. Well, that’s changing from today, with the speed upped to 20mbps for the same price.

Using the Vodafone 4G network, felix – a brand of TPG Mobile – offers unlimited data at 20mbps, which is all you need for streaming in HD, downloading things and using your phone. Of course, you can use it for hotspotting too – though felix notes this is for personal use only, and isn’t really suitable for home internet usage.

Of course, there’s unlimited Australian standard calls (mobiles, landlines, 13 and 18 numbers and voicemail) included, plus SMS and MMS. There’s nothing much else to know, no lock in contracts, and just a $35/mo bill per service.

With that new speed tier, I get the feeling that felix mobile is going to be a lot more appealing. I know I’m thinking of changing across – halving my mobile bill for (effectively) the same inclusions is a no brainer for me.

What about you?
