We all know what it’s like waiting for a new phone, and there’s nothing more tortuous than the wait between hitting that order button and a few days (or maybe even a couple of weeks) for your new shiny toy to show up.
Telstra knows this pain, and to help people deal with it, they’ve launched an express 2-hour delivery service that will get new phones into people’s hands within a couple of hours from select Telstra Stores.
The partnership with Australian courier company Zoom2u will begin with a relatively more limited offer – the new Apple iPhone 13 range and Samsung’s latest phones will be available to customers in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane on a two-hour turnaround from today.
Michael Ackland, Consumer & Small Business Executive said that changes to retail brought about by COVID had inspired Telstra to invest in new customer experiences across a range of channels.
During COVID, our Call & Collect options have taken off. Customers are looking for more ways to shop; more offers and more immediacy and that is why we have introduced Telstra Day, and now we are introducing superfast delivery to give our customers more of what they want.
Here’s how the process works if you want to place an order:
- Check that you’re eligible – to begin with, you need to be an existing Telstra customer, have an active post-paid service for at least six months, and be living within a delivery zone of one of the 25 participating stores – check your coverage here: telstra.com/sameday
- Call your participating store and place your order over the phone. You can bundle selected accessories, but you need to order at least 2 hours before store closing time to allow time for processing and getting it out to you. In time, you’ll be able to order online but for now, it’s direct with your chosen store.
- Track your order in real time – you’ll receive a real-time tracking link via SMS once your order is on its way.
- Wait for your delivery – it’ll be handled securely (you need to use a provided 4-digit PIN to receive your delivery), and photo ID may be required. This is all COVID-safe, of course, so make sure you’ve got a mask for when your delivery comes.
