HMD Global, the powerhouse brand behind Nokia smartphones and more, has today launched the Nokia G21 which comes with guaranteed three years of security updates, up to 3 days of battery life and a 3-year warranty plus more.
The Nokia G21 comes with a 6.5-inch IPS LCD display (1600×720 @ 90Hz refresh rate), which is powered under the hood by a Unisoc T606 processor, 4GB RAM with either 64GB or 128GB of onboard storage which can be expanded to 512GB via MicroSD card. It runs Android 11 right out of the box and HMD Global has said that Android 12 will be coming, although no ETA was provided.
The Nokia G21 comes with a triple rear camera set, made up of a 50 MP main camera sensor, a 2MP macro sensor and a 2MP depth sensor lens. The front facing camera is 8MP which should be fine for those Insta-famous selfies.
The Nokia G21 comes with Bluetooth version 5.0, NFC, 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4/5G dual band), a 3.5mm audio jack and a USB-C charging port.
Sadly perhaps for those looking for a cost-effective Nokia solution, the Nokia G21 does come with 3G and 4G connectivity only. Given our major telcos are closing their 3G networks down, you should consider this a 4G option only.
Speaking at the launch of the Nokia G21, Florian Seiche, CEO at HMD Global said:
“We continue to push boundaries in the mid-range segment providing affordable, secure and competitive technology for all. I am delighted to unveil the Nokia G21.
This device epitomises the durability and long-lasting battery life qualities Nokia phones became famous for all those years ago. This combined with the best of Android software, cements our vision for 2022 and beyond – as we continue to build phones that last for longer.”
Continuing their partnership, the Nokia G21 comes pre-loaded with Spotify and ExpressVPN. Whether you’re a paying or free member, Spotify gives users access to 70 million tracks and 3.2 million podcasts. For enhanced privacy and added peace of mind, ExpressVPN is now available on all new Nokia smartphones with a 30-day free trial after which you’ll lose access or need to pay for continued services.
The Nokia G21 has stated that the Nokia G21 will be available in two colours, Blue and Dusk and will be available to purchase through major retailers and online via the Nokia mobile website for $299.
Cough, cough – Nokia 7.2 owner – sounds like total bollocks!
