The Pixel Fold will be Google’s first entry into the folding phone market. It’s hoped that as part of its design efforts, Google has learned from others’ mistakes. While we’ve seen a few leaks already, this is the first time we’ve seen the Pixel Fold on video.

After watching this a number of times, a few things — apart from excitement — stand out. The first is the significant bezels on the screen when opened. The second, perhaps more important for the device’s longevity, is the apparent lack of gap when folded. This will prevent contaminants from getting in, rubbing and damaging your larger screen while the device is folded.

It’s really exciting to see how smooth the folding mechanism seems to be, and we’re very excited to get our hands on one as soon as we can. The latest information is that the device is set to launch at Google I/O in just a couple of weeks’ time.

I’m worried there seems to be a material distinction between the screen and the bezels. You can see the bezels seem to be raised?

Exciting. There does not appear to be any crease in the middle either.
