Looks like the halt to Android Wear 2.0 may be very limited with another six Android Wear watches now officially receiving the Android Wear 2.0 update.
Ernest, the Googler over on the Google Support Forums who originally announced the commencement of the Android Wear 2.0 rollout to the Fossil Q Founder, Casio Smart Outdoor Watch and Tag Heuer Connected has announced six more watches are receiving the update. The update includes six watches, if you split the Michael Kors Access into the Dylan and Bradshaw models. The new update reads:
Hi again
We’re now rolling out the OTA update to more watches:
Polar M600
Fossil Q Wander
Fossil Q Marshal
Michael Kors ACCESS smartwatches
Nixon the Mission
To successfully receive the update on your watch, please make sure your watch is on its charger and connected to your nearby phone by either bluetooth or Wi-Fi (Android phones only).
Thanks,
Ernest
Exactly what is the hold up for the older model Android Wear watches isn’t clear. Wearable was given an update by Google previously to say that the Android Wear 2.0 update had been delayed due to a bug, however it appears to be continuing.
I received the update to my Polar M600 smartwatch this morning, so the update is definitely rolling out.
If you have one of these Android Wear watches, make sure your watch is charged and check for an update, you could be next.
My Fossil Q Marshal can’t seem to find the update.
A bit OT but on this story and others I’m getting repeated autoplay video ads that can’t be stopped, and mute only works until the video restarts. Looks like they’re being served up by AdChoices / theTradeDesk.
Still waiting on my LG Watch Urbane. It was one of the first listed to get AW 2.0 and now perhaps one of the last to get it.
Notice how the manufacturers updating their watches are non traditional Android players while Moto, LG, Huawei seemingly do nothing. Not a good look where traditional Android manufacturers are beaten by newbies!
Still kinda pissed the SW3 got stooged in the end….
I’m liking Huawei less and less at the moment, to be honest.
Couldn’t agree more, another Samsung when it comes to updates and if you happen to get your Huawei phones and tablets through Vodafail, the updates are even slower. Let’s hope Wear 2.0 actually arrives for the W1 and isn’t killed off.
I’m quite sure it’ll arrive, but it’s taking far too long IMO, given they were involved in the beta/preview testing. They’ve had the code for ages, they’ve even had binaries to test out the few changes they’re going to make (i.e. updated watch faces, updated fitness app).
It’s the outright radio silence that I don’t like. Tell us something, anything.
