The issue of random reboots on Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL handsets due possibly to a kernel panic in areas with low LTE signal has apparently been resolved overnight with a fix to be rolled out ‘in the coming weeks’.
The update was given to the Google Product Forums reporting the issue, with Google Community Manager Orrin advising:
Hey All,
Thanks for all the info you have provided and for those that sent over bug reports.
We want to let you all know that we’ve identified a fix which will be rolling out in the coming weeks.
Thanks
The issue was reported on yesterday and linked possibly to kernel panic when the phones were in areas of low LTE signal. We had a couple of reported cases in the comments section of our article yesterday, so it’s possible the issue was reaching us here in Australia as well.
The update will possibly be rolled out with the December security patch due to arrive after the 5th of December. We’ll just have to wait and see.
Once it rolls out I will let people know if my device continues to reboot!
