With every update, Twitter’s official Android application gets more fantastic. First came the holo redesign, then they fixed the settings button and now they’ve added expandable notifications and a new compose screen.

Twitter’s handling of notifications was my number one complaint about the official application, and I’m glad to see that they’ve fixed the problem. Before the update, notifications from Twitter would only display ‘New interactions’, which was horribly unhelpful. Now, you get an actual list of what these interactions are.

If you have multiple Twitter accounts configured, the new compose screen lets you switch between them simply by tapping on your display picture, and if you attach a photo to your tweet, you’ll now see a large preview below the text. The application also has its own in-built gallery so you can pick an image from within the app itself, rather than having to go out to the gallery and back again. Nice touch. There is also an in-built effects gallery so you can hipster-fy your photos before posting.

Now that we’ve got that sorted, how about that inline media content, hey Twitter? That might even be enough to steer me back into your arms.
