Android will receive a port of the classic simulation game Transport Tycoon, reports Android Police – and it’s to be designed and directed by Chris Sawyer, creator of the original game.
While there is an open source version of the classic game already available in the Play store, the official game will be coming to Android by the end of 2013 and is being reported as the “definitive version”.
Developers at Origin8 Technologies (also assisting with development) have recreated and restored Sawyer’s original code and are working to revise the game for touchscreen devices.
The original Transport Tycoon met with critical and commercial success when it debuted back in 1994, and was then followed up a year later with Transport Tycoon Deluxe which repeated its success. The addictive gameplay has brought made casual and dedicated gamers alike fans of the original, and it’s hoped this passion with reignite with the new version.
There is no official date yet for when the game will be available from the Play store, but we’ll be keeping an eye out. You can also enter your email address at the Transport Tycoon website to be notified when it’s released.
